Why partner with Malebox?

Highest clinical and quality standards

Malebox is currently the only commercially available UKCA marked at-home semen analysis service in the UK. Analysis is performed manually by HCPC registered andrologists. Results are delivered by NMC registered nurses, ensuring context is provided and results are never misinterpreted.

Remove geographical barriers

Clinics can reach patients who cannot easily access in-person testing, broadening the patient base and improving access to reproductive healthcare. The same test, standard, and experience regardless of where the patient is.

Improve workflow efficiency

Reduce the need for in-person collection appointments and free up clinical resource. We manage the logistics, the testing, and the patient support end to end. Patients collect on their own schedule, freeing your team to focus on what matters.

An approachable first step

Men can complete the test on their own schedule, in their own environment. Convenience removes a significant barrier to participation. Results are delivered by NMC registered nurses who ensure men understand their findings and receive clear, personalised next steps.

Why the science matters

How Malebox works

Preservative

Multiple commercially available preservatives were identified, reviewed against published literature and tested empirically. Fresh samples were collected, split into aliquots, treated with each preservative and observed across time to map the ageing profile of each. This produced a clear picture of the best-performing and most reliable option. The selected preservative was then stress-tested across a range of dilutions, temperatures and conditions to replicate real-world variation.

Packaging

To maintain appropriate temperatures across both journeys, preservative outbound to the patient and preserved sample inbound to the laboratory, Malebox developed its own passively temperature-controlled packaging system. It has been validated in both summer and winter conditions across both transit legs.

Predictive models

Fresh samples were collected in person and analysed by HCPC registered andrologists at a UKAS accredited laboratory following WHO 6th edition guidelines. These results form the ground truth dataset. The same samples were then split, preserved, aged under simulated postage conditions and re-analysed across a 12 to 72-hour window. This dataset, combined with external inputs such as ambient temperature, formed the basis for the predictive models. The models were subsequently validated on a new sample set collected at a separate laboratory to confirm accuracy and reliability.
